PHD survived the blogger changes, but this might be the end of the line for another reason. I'm dissatisfied with the quality of my output. There are a couple of reasons for this.
Since this blog can be connected with me I have to consider that what I write may come back to bite me if read by future employers, voters, etcetera. I tend to under-report events which would show me in a bad light
And I plan to one day supplement my pension by doing a bit of journalism on the side. I can see myself having a weekly opinion page in the guardian/radio times/heat magazine. A flattering thumbnail picture of a younger me in the top corner and a quirky title: "Matt grows more week by the day" or something. But I can't imagine editors stumping up hard cash for the tripe I've been producing here
So I'm going to take January off and see how I feel after my hiatus. In the meantime I'll be posting my photos on webshots.com. Photojournalism is apparently not a moneymaker
